Hyderabad: A review meeting was held regarding the renovation works of the Speaker’s chamber and the Council building at the Assembly here on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by Speaker Prasad Kumar, Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Sridhar Babu, Government Whips Ramachandra Naik and Aadi Srinivas, as well as officials from the Roads and Buildings department.

The Speaker, Council Chairman and Ministers reviewed the progress of the work completed so far and instructed the officials concerned to expedite the work and ensure it is completed by the time of the Budget sessions.

The meeting lasted for about an hour and a half. Following the meeting, Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy inspected the old Assembly building.

Later, speaking to the media, Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy stated that the Aga Khan Trust is renovating the Assembly building at an estimated cost of Rs49 crore.

He mentioned that they have communicated to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to ensure the completion of the renovation within three months.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy noted that changes are being made in a way that preserves the original Nizam-style architecture.

"The Assembly and Council will be set up in a single location, similar to the arrangement of the Central Hall in Parliament. Currently, the Chief Minister and Ministers have to use vehicles to travel between the Assembly and the Council, but having both in the same place will save time," he disclosed.

Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy also expressed sharp criticism against BRS working president KT Rama Rao.

He ridiculed the move to take the issue of electricity charges to the Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC), calling it a "big joke" and labeled KTR as a "joker."

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy further criticised that, despite not winning a single seat in Parliament, KTR hasn't learned any lessons from the Assembly defeat.

He emphasised that their government is committed to providing 200 units of free electricity to the poor. The Minister also questioned Union Ministers Bandi Sanjay and Kishan Reddy, asking how much funding they have brought for the development of the Telangana State.
